2008 Season

2008 NY States - Ken Collado State Champ, Stephen Dutton 2 Time All State
Kenneth Collado became the fourth wrestler in Hauppauge's history to win the NYS Wrestling Championships. Collado won the 103lb title by defeating four opponents. His first bout featured a pin in the third period against CJ Canterbury from St Francis high school. In the quarters he defeated Anthony Facchini from Seaford,m Section 8 2-0. The semi's was a rematch of the Suffolk County semi-finals and once again Kenny defeated Huntington's Jose Vasquez 4-1. In the finals he faced Luke Popolizio from Section 2. Popolizio from Shenendehowa High Schools was a returning runner-up in the NYS tournament. Once again Collado mirrored his match in the finals of the counties winning in over-time by a 4-2 score. In the second thirty second rideout of double overtime, Kenny turned his opponent for the exciting win. He finished the season with 38 wins and has amassed 61 wins up to this point.

Becoming the third wrestler from Hauppauge ever to place twice in the states was super-sophomore Stephen Dutton. Stephen with an unbelievable career 125 wins, although losing his first match of the tournament regained his composure and went on a mission with five straight wins for third place. He defeated his opponents by a startling 63 points to their one. The only point came at the hands of a penalty point. The dynamic duo, of Collado and Dutton, became the first two Hauppauge wrestlers ever to win a Suffolk County title and in addition place in the NYS Championships.
